Digital Realty Trust's Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) managing director, Bernard Geoghegan, has taken over the Asia Pacific portfolio after former APAC regional head Kris Kumar resigned for personal reasons.

Based in Singapore, Kumar had been in the role for more than four years. During that time, he oversaw the construction of the Melbourne II data centre, which opened in November 2013, and a Sydney facility, which opened in November 2012.

Geoghegan has been with Digital Realty Trust since April 2013. In the expanded role, he will be responsible for driving business growth in EMEA and APAC.

A Digital Realty Trust spokesperson said that Geoghegan will be splitting his time between London, United Kingdom and Singapore. He will be visiting Australia every month.

Prior to this role, Geoghegan was executive vice president of Colt Data Centre Services for two years.

He also served as senior vice president of international operations at Digital Realty Trust from 2008 to 2010.
