Walmart brings Black Friday early to iPhone, iPad fans

Walmart, which already has leaked its Black Friday deals on Apple, Dell, HP and other tech products, just couldn't stand the lull between now and the day after Thanksgiving. So it has started promoting a Pre-Black Friday event for this Friday, Nov. 21, starting at 8am, that will also feature plenty of bargains on electronics.

Walmart, which like other retailers is promising to match or beat competitors' offers, held a similar Pre-Black Friday campaign a year ago.

Most of deal specifics will be revealed on Nov. 20, but Walmart did say it will be offering the following:

*The new iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi tablet for $489 ($10 off Apple's price), with a $100 Walmart gift card.

*iPhone 6 for $179 or iPhone 5S for $9 with a two-year service agreement (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint), and $75 Walmart gift card

*iPhone 6 and 5S for $0 down for AT&T Next or Verizon Edge customers in select markets, plus $75 Walmart gift card.

*Samsung 58-inch Smart LED HDTV for $700

Retailers such as Best Buy and Target are also pricing Apple and other electronics products aggressively this Black Friday season.

We still haven't seen any retailers offering anything special for the big new iPhone 6 Plus smartphone and Apple itself hasn't announced any Black Friday deals yet. However, it has gussied up its website on Wednesday to highlight suggested Apple gifts.

Word is that Apple might also open its stores earlier than usual on Black Friday.

Apple traditionally waits until very shortly before Black Friday to reveal its own Black Friday deals. Apple has gotten into the habit of offering Black Friday price breaks  of about $100 off Macs and $50 off iPads (it's less clear what it might offer in the way of iPhone savings).
