Saba Software, a United States cloud based talent management solution provider, has taken co-location space in a Sydney data centre so that it can keep customer data in Australia and comply with the Privacy Act.
The Privacy Act amendments, which became law in March 2014, prohibit the sending of personal information outside Australia. International cloud providers need to comply with this legislation.
Data from the vendor’s Australian, New Zealand and Asia Pacific customers will reside at the data centre in the Australian Technology Park in Sydney.
Saba Software's senior vice president and general manager of growth markets, Olivier Ghezi, said that A/NZ is a “very mature market” for the vendor. He said its Australian customers include Allianz, Caltex, Clayton Utz, Sydney Water and Telstra.

According to Saba Software's chief cloud officer and senior vice president of engineering and operations, Srinivas Ogireddy, local customers will notice improved speed and performance now that it is offering services from an Australian data centre.
“Our solutions are offered with a service level agreement [SLA] for 99.9 per cent availability,” he said in a statement.
The company also uses data centres in North America and Europe to provide services to customers there.
