An email scam offering people a job working from home for Australia Post should be deleted straight away, warned the postal service today.
The email, which is sent from the address svsort@auspost-us.com, invites the recipient to apply for a job working from home. Some emails include an employment contract which has the Australia Post logo (see screen shot above).
“Australia Post does not send emails to customers offering jobs or providing employment contracts. If you receive this email, please delete it,” said a spokesperson.
“If you have fallen victim to the scam, please call the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on 1300 795 995 to report the matter to SCAMwatch.”
In August 2014, Australia Post was targeted by cyber criminals who set up a phishing website designed to look like its homepage.
The phishing website claimed that customers needed to log in when tracking parcels.
During the same month, Australia Post warned customers not to open a scam email that claimed a courier could not deliver a parcel to their address.
The scam email used the following addresses: info@aust-post.com, infor@aus-post.info, info@aus-post.biz, info@auspost.biz, info@aust-post.net or info@aut-post.com.
