Vocus Communications (ASX: VOC) is set to buy two data centres from Enterprise Data Corporation (EDC) for $23.5 million.
The EDC data centres are based in Sydney and Melbourne. According to Vocus, the acquisition is forecast to generate earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of $4.7 million.
EDC is an Australian-owned company founded in 1987. It has customers in the telecommunications, manufacturing, financial services and government sectors.
Vocus Communications CEO James Spenceley said the acquisition will add two “high quality” data centres to its existing nine facilities across Australia and New Zealand.
“The [BC] data centres have many long-term customers and will provide us with cross selling opportunities and further redundancy for existing customers. The BC business is a logical service extension to the current range of services offered to customers,” he said in a statement.
In August 2014, Vocus Communications acquired ASG Group’s Perth data centre for $11.7 million.
