Freelancer.com acquires Spanish online marketplace

Picks up Projectlinkr.com

Freelancer.com has made its second acquisition this year, picking up Spanish language online skills market Projectlinkr.com.

The Barcelona-headquartered site has 140,000 registered members.

The price of the acquisition was not disclosed.

"Spanish is the third largest language spoken after English and Mandarin, and through this acquisition we are adding 1 40,000 new Spanish-¬speaking users to our strong existing community," Freelancer CEO Matt Barrie said in a statement.

The ASX-listed business announced earlier this month that it had acquired the assets of defunct Israeli website DoNanza.

Last year Freelancer acquired four businesses: the Warrior Forum marketing community, Polish freelance marketplace Zlecenia.przez.net, content marketplace Fantero and startup conference SydStart.

Freelancer reported a 39 per cent increase in revenue for the 12 months ending 31 December. At the end of last year it had 14.3 million registered users for its crowdsourcing marketplace.
