SugarCRM sweetens Sugar 7.6 with a BPM twist

One new tool lets nonexpert users create complex workflow rules without coding

Following a string of acquisition and partnership announcements over the past few weeks, SugarCRM on Tuesday rolled out a new version of its flagship customer relationship management software that adds business process management capabilities along with several key mobility and usability enhancements.

Focusing on BPM, Sugar 7.6 includes features such as a visual designer and enhanced time-based alerts, escalations and approval workflows. Also included are support for parallel and complex workflows and a new Business Rules Builder that lets nonexpert business users create complex workflow rules without having to write code.

The result, SugarCRM says, is that enterprise users can more affordably automate complex business processes like case routing and escalation, contract approval, customer and employee onboarding, and payment workflow and escalation.

Also included in Sugar 7.6 are new mobile customization capabilities, designed to make it easier for users to view dashboards from the main menu of their mobile devices, for example. Users can now also create personalized dashboards, engage in social collaboration through the activity stream and view their favorite charts.

Finally, Sugar 7.6 brings usability improvements for all customer-facing employees as well, SugarCRM says. Enhanced role-based views, for example, are intended to make it easier for employees to find the data they need based on their job, while enhanced Dunn & Bradstreet data-services integration is meant to give users data-powered insight into the people they interact with.

Unveiled at the SugarCon user conference in San Francisco, Sugar 7.6 will be available next month. Pricing begins at $40 per user per month.
