Equinix has announced that customers will be able to connect to Office 365 via the Azure ExpressRoute from its three Sydney data centres.
The service will be available in Q3 this year from data centres in Sydney, Amsterdam, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Osaka, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Tokyo and Washington D.C.
Equinix said that Azure ExpressRoute offers greater privacy than typical cloud connections and allows customers to build hybrid cloud environments with control.
Equinix cloud innovation vice president Chris Sharp said it wanted to help enterprise customers get the most out of their cloud investments.
“Private access to Office 365 results in lower latency and higher performing connections, thus providing business grade performance and the end-user experiences that enterprises are demanding with their adoption of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications,” he said in a statement.
In April, Equinix announced that it will open a fourth data centre in Sydney.
Equinix said it would invest more than US$97 million — approximately AUD$121 million — on SY4, which is the company’s fifth data centre in the country.
The 12,500 square metre data centre will be based in Alexandria.
When complete it will offer capacity for 3000 cabinets. The first phase, comprising 1500 cabinets, is scheduled to be completed in Q2 2016.
