Telstra retail group executive Gordon Ballantyne is leaving the telco in December after five years.
Joining as consumer group managing director in June 2010, he took on the role of chief customer office in July 2012.
Ballantyne had been retail group executive since October 2013 and was in charge of an $18 billion portfolio including consumer, business, media, marketing and health.
He was also chairman of Telstra Clear New Zealand, vice chairman of CSL Hong Kong and a non-executive director of Foxtel.
According to Ballantyne, he will take a holiday before "exploring new opportunities".
“I have loved this job and its people. I will forever be a Telstra advocate, but I am also looking forward with excitement to the next challenge,” he said.
A Telstra spokesperson said that a replacement would be announced in due course.
Telstra CEO Andrew Penn said that Ballantyne turned around the company’s retail division and delivered over $2 billion in revenue growth.
“His [Ballantyne’s] commitment to our people has been instrumental in driving cultural change for our customers, and his capacity to drive growth has been reflected in the performance of the business,” said Penn.
