In brief: Schott reappointed to NBN board

Kerry Schott appointed for second term

Kerry Schott has been reappointed to NBN's board as a non-executive director for another three years.

NBN's two shareholder ministers — finance minister Senator Mathias Cormann and communications minister Senator Mitch Fifield — made the announcement in a statement issued today.

"Dr Schott's reappointment ensures continuity for the company at a critical stage of the rollout of the national broadband network to all Australians," the ministers' statement said.

"Over the next three years NBN is aiming to provide access to the network, or have construction underway, in areas covering more than nine million Australian homes and businesses."

Schott earlier this year was made an Officer of the Order of Australia. She is a former CEO of Sydney Water and of the NSW government's Commission of Audit.

After the Coalition's victory in the 2013, Schott and Alison Lansley were the only two members of NBN's board to continue in their roles.
