Fujitsu Australia’s data centres in Perth, Western Australia and Eight Miles, Queensland have received the NABERS energy for data centre rating.
The Perth facility achieved 3.5 stars while the Queensland data centre was awarded a rating of 3 stars.
The vendor now has five of its six major data centres certified under the national NABERS rating system that measures energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor air quality within the built environment.
The rating system, which is managed by the NSW government’s Office of Environment and Heritage, was launched in Australia in February 2013 and assesses the building infrastructure and IT equipment of data centres.
CIOs, IT managers and co-location tenants can use the rating to assess, compare and improve the energy performance of their facility.
The OEH has established that Fujitsu’s five rated data centres are 27 per cent more efficient than the market average and are saving its customers over 13 gigawatt hours of electricity per year.
The three other data centres which have been certified are in Victoria and NSW.
Fujitsu released a 2025 roadmap in May which outlines how the company will take advantage of infrastructure technologies that maximises performance, reliability, data security and sustainability in its Oceania data centres.
