The Department of Defence has extended its regional ICT services agreement with Unisys until October 2018.
Unisys estimates the value of the two-year extension to be $74 million. The contract covers 450 locations and some 100,000 end users.
The contract originally took effect in 2008.
The department cited its ongoing ICT transformation program as a reason for the extension.
“As the transformation projects currently underway require a focused and sustained effort, Defence has exercised a contract extension under the existing Unisys Regional ICT Services Agreement for on-site support services until October 2018,” a Defence statement said.
Defence recently sought to recruit a number of new senior executives for its Chief Information Officer Group as part of its response to the First Principles Review released in April 2015.
Among the recommendations of that review were that Defence work to standardise business and information processes and applications.
The Defence White Paper released last month said the government would invest an additional $5 billion to fix what it says is underinvestment in IT systems over the last decade.
The funding was included in the $195 billion Integrated Investment Program, which stretches through to FY26.
