Mingis on Tech: IT Salary Watch -- show me the money!

Paychecks are getting fatter, but not all IT pros are happy

When it comes to job pay, more is always better -- right? That's as true for IT pros as anyone else, and the data from Computerworld's newest IT Salary Survey offers good news for 2016.

Executive News Editor Ken Mingis and Senior Features Editor Tracy Mayor dig into some of the details of this year's exclusive survey results. Computerworld surveyed 3,300 IT professionals -- that's real people, with real jobs and real salaries, not recruiters -- about the state of their own personal economies. And the state of those workers is indeed good, although not everyone is happy.

Salaries are up 3.9% this year, compared to 3.6% in 2015, a level of paycheck growth that's finally getting back to where it was before the Great Recession. (Yes, it's taken seven years...)

What's noteworthy is that with the IT Salary Watch package, you can drill down by job title, experience level and even location using our Smart Salary Finder to see how your paycheck compares with colleagues in similar positions in your region and other parts of the U.S.

Oh, and there's useful advice on how to fatten your own paycheck.
