The federal Department of Health has moved to establish a supplier panel that it can draw on to supplement its existing data analytics capabilities.
The department last week issued a request for tender inviting service providers to join the panel.
“In the past the Department of Health has approached the market for each separate data analytics project requiring external input,” a department spokesperson said.
Tender documents state the department is seeking vendors that can offer services including augmenting the staff and capabilities for analytics projects run by the department, helping the department assess emerging analytics techniques, project management services, data collection and collation, presentation, and advisory services.
“The establishment of a panel will give the department the capability of comparing the experience, attributes and pricing of a wide range of contractors and consultants, and provide the ability to conduct procurement exercises to engage external providers quickly and efficiently,” a spokesperson said.
“[O]ne of my most pressing concerns is that we take advantage of better data collection and reporting to give us the evidence of what is required, what is working and what isn’t,” the secretary of the department, Martin Bowles, said at a CEDA event in March.
“We need to put data, analytics, evaluation and research at the centre of health care to make the system work smarter and more effectively.”
The RFT closes at 2pm on 8 August.
