auDA recruits new CEO

Cameron Boardman to take up chief executive role before the end of August

The board of .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) has appointed Cameron Boardman as the organisation’s new CEO.

Boardman replaces auDA’s founding CEO Chris Disspain. auDA’s board announced in March that it had ended Disspain’s contract, which was up for renewal later in the year.

At the time a statement issued by auDA said that the board had “agreed new leadership was required to take the organisation forward.”

Disspain had been the organisation’s CEO since 2000.

Boardman, who is expected to take up his new role by the end of August, is currently executive director for investor engagement at Victoria’s Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.

Prior to that, Boardman was executive director for innovation, technology and industry programs within the Victorian Department of State Development, Business and Innovation.

In a statement auDA said that Boardman had played a key role in a number of state government cyber security initiatives, including Oxford University’s Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre decision to establish an office in the state. He also engaged in .melbourne related policy development.

“As auDA looks to the future to become better connected and engaged with its members and stakeholders, the breadth of experience that Mr Boardman brings to the position including his extensive policy development, commercial and international skills, will ensure the organisation will be exceptionally well led into the future,” auDA chairperson Stuart Benjamin said in a statement.

“This is an exciting time for auDA and the broader domain and digital community. The board is looking forward to auDA re-positioning itself as the leading advocate of the .au domain space and ensuring its members and stakeholders views are integral as the National Innovation and Science Agenda continues to be implemented.”
