Simon Hackett takes top role at Redflow

Hackett appointed interim CEO

Internode founder former NBN board member Simon Hackett has been appointed interim CEO at ASX-listed battery startup Redflow.

Hackett is executive chairperson at Redflow, as well as its largest shareholder. In addition to founding ISP Internode, Hackett is a former member of NBN’s board. Hackett resigned from NBN’s board in April in order to focus on Redflow.

Richard Aird, who is also a member of the company’s board, has been appointed acting chief operating officer.

Hackett stepped into the CEO role at Redflow after the company’s former chief executive, Stuart Smith, resigned.

“Stuart has led Redflow during a period in which it transformed a promising technology into a world-class battery and outsourced manufacturing to Flex,” Redflow director Howard Stack said in a statement.

“The company is now embarking on the next phase of its development, and with Stuart's departure we have appointed Simon and Richard as acting CEO and acting COO to oversee the delivery of ZCell batteries in Australia and to identify the leadership team to deliver Redflow batteries to the world.”

Redflow is preparing to rollout its ZCell system, which is designed to store excess energy generated by residential solar panels for later use. The first batch batteries for the system is currently being shipped.
