QBE seeks united IT strategy with global CIO

Recruits Zurich CITO for new role

ASX-listed QBE Insurance Group has created a new global chief information officer role to help develop a united IT strategy across the 37 countries it operates in.

The insurer announced that it had recruited Markus Nordlin to fill the role. Nordlin will be based in New York City and report to group chief operations officer, Colin Fagen.

Nordlin comes to QBE from Zurich Insurance, where he held the role of chief information and technology officer. Nordlin joined Zurich in September 2010; prior to that he was CIO at Farmers Insurance in the US.

“This appointment is central to our plans to create a united IT strategy across QBE, simplifying our technology architecture and driving innovation and change,” QBE’s Fagen said in a statement.

“Markus has expertise in driving major infrastructure consolidation and operational excellence as well as new customer-focused digital platforms. I look forward to Markus creating further competitive advantage for QBE through efficiency gains and innovation in IT.”
