The Department of Finance will establish a procurement panel that will make it easier for departments and agencies that use govCMS to obtain Drupal-related services.
govCMS is a cloud-hosted, Drupal-based content management system (CMS) for government. The platform is maintained by Acquia, which operates govCMS under a contract with the Department of Finance.
The CMS-as-a-service offering officially launched in early 2015. The platform is intended to be a cost-effective content management option for government websites.
In addition to federal government agencies, state and local government organisations will also be able to use the panel.
“The new panel is expected to reduce govCMS solutions development and implementation expenditure for government entities and simplify contract management arrangements with service providers,” a govCMS statement said
“The panel is expected to include commercial organisations and individuals with Drupal and govCMS solutions delivery expertise.”
There are more than 100 sites running on govCMS, with 23 Cancer Australia websites recently migrating to the platform. Initially, the goal was to have 58 live govCMS sites by the end of 2016. Forty six agencies have signed up to use the platform.
