Tourism Australia CIO to leave role in December

Dave Rumsey seeks new challenge after half a decade at TA

Tourism Australia’s chief information officer, Dave Rumsey, has tendered his resignation and will leave the organisation shortly after racking up half a decade in the role.

The CIO joined Tourism Australia in November 2011 following a number of roles in the NSW public sector.

Rumsey will stay at the organisation until early December to oversee the completion of a number of ongoing projects as well as assist Tourism Australia with recruiting a new CIO.

Rumsey’s work at Tourism Australia drew praise from the organisation’s executive general manager, corporate services, Mark Craig.

“Dave has made a fabulous contribution during his five years at TA, delivering a huge change management program and laying the foundations for a digital transformation journey which is now well under way,” Craig told Computerworld Australia.

“One of Dave's biggest legacies is the spirit of cooperation and collaboration he helped build between Marketing and Digital that has enabled the successful completion of a number of critical, business wide projects,” he added.

“Dave has decided it’s time to seek a new challenge, which we appreciate and fully support. He leaves with our thanks and best wishes.”
