Replacing the Joneses: Yahoo announces new MD and management change

A former head of a wireless application service provider has been chosen as the new managing director for Yahoo Australia & NZ.

The company on Tuesday announced that Clifford Rosenberg had been appointed to the lead role, several months after former MD Nic Jones left the company. Rosenberg is to take up the position in March.

Since 2002 Clifford has been managing director of iTouch Australia, which creates products and services specifically for mobile carriers. Previously, he held a variety of telecommunications and Internet-related roles within Telkom South Africa, Cable and Wireless, and Vodafone Pacific.

In a statement, Clifford said: "Australian marketers, businesses and consumers can really expect to see, hear and be heard by Yahoo! in the coming year."

Since Jones left in late November, Yahoo's senior management team of Leanne Sheraton (marketing and sales director) and Bernie Sheehan (production director) have been running Yahoo Australia and NZ. They will continue the job in the interim.

And keeping up with his Jones namesake, Alan Jones, the company's regional production director is departing. A company spokesperson said that after five-plus years, Jones is leaving his position at the end of the month to "go and do his own thing".
