Melbourne-based IT start-up, Momentum Technologies Group (MTG), has signed a deal for its flagship SquizBiz product to be distributed in Korea by INCR.
SquizBiz is a mixture of hardware and software, that can be slotted into a camcorder to allow the user to work wirelessly and transmit live digital images across broadband.
The agreement came about through MTG’s involvement in TradeStart – a new export program managed by Austrade, a Federal Government agency set up to help Australian companies win overseas business – and is the company’s first export deal.
“”We’re obviously very excited about this agreement and the development of our business relationship with INCR,” MTG managing director, Adele Whish-Wilson, said.
“Initially we are concentrating on business users. Australian customers have included agribusiness and a piggery, where it is used for remote veterinary services.
“In Korea we will be focusing on construction, mobile troubleshooting and education. Fan clubs also have huge potential for video-streaming in that market,” she said.
MTG started out in 2001, receiving a $200,000 grant from the Australian Distributors Incubator.
It is also one of only 19 companies to be awarded a Telstra Broadband Fund Grant earlier this year, getting $250,000 to help drive increased take-up of applications over broadband.
“These grants have been extremely important in allowing us to reach this stage of commercialisation,” said Whish-Wilson. “We are looking forward to following our INCR agreement with distribution deals in other Asian countries and, hopefully, Europe and North America.”
