Legato adds snapshot management to NetWorker

Legato Systems on Monday will unveil a new add-on to its NetWorker backup software that aims to simplify the management of system image snapshots created by a variety of different storage vendors.

The new software, called NetWorker PowerSnap, will let NetWorker users automate the recovery of snapshots created by products like EMC's Clariion, IBM's FastT, and Sun Microsystem's StorEdge Availability Suite.

Pricing for PowerSnap will start at US$2,495 for storage arrays with 500G bytes of storage. The software will be available by the end of September, Legato said.

Also on Monday, Legato will announce that its NetWorker 7.1 software will support Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 as well as the enterprise editions of both Red Hat's and Suse's versions of Linux.

The company will also announce an agreement with IBM that will see IBM's sales force start to sell Legato's EmailXtender, EmailXaminer, and DiskXtender e-mail management products to its Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange customers, Legato said.
