Channel shares iAwards spoils

The winners of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAwards this year saw 11 developers recognised for their achievements over the past 12 months, and included some familiar faces in the channel.

This year's winners included IT integrator Data#3, winning the community participation award for ShareRide.com.au, a site developed by Data#3 consultant Paul Harris. The ShareRide site is basically an online database where people can organise to car-pool, which assists drivers who want to use transit lanes, passengers who want an easier way to work, and ultimately keeps less cars on the road during peak hour. The site is hosted and maintained by Data#3 as a form of community service.

RentSmart won the Australian Business Award for its online finance site, RentSmart online. The company would be familiar to many resellers who offer customers finance for the purchase of IT goods.

The rest of the winners covered a wide cross section of the Australian IT community. Tower Software Engineering won both the minister's award for excellence and the SME exporter of the year, while 3D3.com won the e-commerce award. Access Online took out the education and training award, while The Distillery won product of the year for its InterQuest product. Harvestroad won the rural and regional Australia award for the Avon Catchment Network, Inspire Foundation won the community and non-profit award, and the NSW Police Service won the Australian Government award. Netline Technologies won the mobile technologies award and Networking North QLD won the health and medical award.
