buy.com joins e-comm fraud-fighting squad

buy.com has joined a number of e-commerce merchants in an industry organisation aimed at combating Internet-based fraud.

The online retailer joins Expedia. com, Starwood Hotels and transaction solutions provider ClearCommerce in a coalition with payment companies such as American Express and First Data Corp to form the Worldwide E-Commerce Fraud Prevention Network.

Known more commonly as the Merchant Fraud Squad, the organisation hopes to share fraud prevention and best practice information to help improve Web security.

Its Web site, www.merchantfraudsquad.com, will also include tips for shopping safely online.

FinancePlus appoints New Day as channel partnerNew Day Solutions has been appointed as a reseller of FinancePlus accounting and e-commerce software range.

The Sydney-based dealer and former top 10 reseller for Sybiz software joins a steadily increasing FinancePlus reseller network. New Day Solutions director David Rowe said the company was looking for a robust finance package for the Windows platform.

FinancePlus is still on the hunt for resellers to implement its financial and e-commerce solutions, particular those with knowledge of the SME space.

Tivoli's new POS system

Tivoli Systems' new Point-of-Sale Manager v.2.0 allows retailers to integrate their IT infrastructure with the store operations and tools.

Working with IBM 4690 POS devices, v.2.0 allows the retailer to manage multi-channel retailing.

The company claims the product provides the tools to make POS staff support more effective, reducing downtime and lowering total cost of ownership.

Features include asset management, software distribution, problem management and inventory reporting.

Tivoli Point-of-Sale Manager is available now and pricing is based on network and system configuration.

OziSoft and GT merge

Games software distributor GT Interactive has been absorbed into OziSoft, following its acquisition by OziSoft's parent company Infogames.

OziSoft has moved its headquarters to Alexandria in Sydney and has taken on GT's software catalogue. The company now has around 50 employees.

"We have doubled in our size and in our catalogue," said OziSoft's promotions manager Kym Warner.
