CA's InterBiz leads ASP drive

In an effort to equip aspiring application service providers (ASPs) with what they need to compete in the crowded ASP market, Computer Asso-ciates International's (CA) applications division interBiz has launched its Online Group at NetWorld+Interop 2000.

According to InterBiz vice president Eli Goodrich, the interBiz Online Group will offer companies three CA e-business hosting products - iBizDirect, iBizPartner and interBureau - that have been refocused to serve customers who want to become ASPs, with outsourced financial, manufacturing and distribution systems.

"We see the ASPs as the future of customisation," Goodrich said. "interBiz is not an ASP, but it enables [CA] partners in the ASP model to be successful in their solutions."

Goodrich said that the Online Group's three InterBiz application-hosting models can be tailored to fit customers' e-business initiatives in specific vertical markets.

In the iBizDirect model, the interBiz Online Group will host the application on the client's behalf. Via the iBizPartner hosting model, clients can provide ASP services to their end-users, with interBiz taking care of back-end hosting services - hosting applications for a third party on the client's behalf, Goodrich said. The interBureau model allows ASPs to host interBiz applications for third-party customers.
