AMD to assure motherboard compatibility

Advanced Micro Devices announced on Monday the launch of a global motherboard certification program designed to assure system integrators and users that certified boards are fully compatible with it's Athlon and Duron PC processors.

Motherboards that meet the company's testing criteria will be identified with a board-specific number under the AMD assured program, the processor vendor said in a statement.

AMD said the program, an extension of its existing practice of verifying and recommending select motherboards, is aimed at making it easier for system builders to identify motherboards that have passed testing to meet AMD's own compatibility criteria.

Motherboard models from Giga-Byte Technology and Micro-Star International, two major Taiwan-based vendors, were the first to receive certification under the program.

More information about the program can be found on the Web at http://www.amd.com/reseller/assured/index.html.
