NEWSBRIEF: Telcos Shed Hang-ups

Telco rivals Telstra and AAPT have agreed to settle the longstanding Federal Court litigation between them. The companies said in a statement issued to the Australian Stock Exchange that they settled on terms which would not adversely affect either corporation's financial position. The dispute, which fell under the Trade Practices Act, related to the charges that Telstra paid AAPT for domestic PSTN terminating access services. PSTN enables the termination of local calls from Telstra's network to ISPs connected to AAPT's network.
