Ingram Micro targets retail CRM

Ingram Micro has stepped in to become the exclusive distributor of contact management tool ACT! 2000 after Tech Pacific pulled out of distributing the product at the beginning of the year.

According to Dianne Gruneklee, marketing director of Interact Commerce Corporation Asia Pacific, Tech Pacific could no longer justify distributing the product after a licence to sell ACT! 2000 was sold by Symantec to Interact Commerce Corporation earlier this year.

The product will return to the retail shelves of Harvey Normans, Harris Technologies and a number of selected outlets after ACT! 2000 supplies were run down during the change of distributors.

Interact Commerce Corporation has purchased the exclusive licence to sell ACT! 2000 for four years, with the option to purchase the product line outright, at the end of this time, which it is likely to do claims Gruneklee.

"The channel has been asking for the product since Interact Commerce Corporation bought ACT! from Symantec earlier this year," said Interact's Laurence Webb, managing director, Asia-Pacific.

"This new distribution agreement will significantly expand our distribution network, and, in the coming weeks we will see the product return to retail outlets."

The ACT! 2000 product is an entry level CRM tool designed for the SOHO and SME markets, featuring contact management, sales forecasting calendar applications and correspondence templates. It is designed to be a "step up" from Microsoft Outlook, claims Gruneklee.

"Ingram Micro Australia is continuing to expand its product offerings and resellers will benefit from our expanded product range," claims Michael Shea, managing director of Ingram Micro. It is reported Ingram Micro has already got new orders for the product in its system.
