Predictive Analysis Platform Extended

SAN MATEO (07/26/2000) - Computer Associates International Inc. on Wednesday extended its Neugents agent technology for e-business predictive analysis to non-CA platforms, with the release of Neugentsii.

Neugentsii features e-business predictive analysis components of the Jasmineii database, which is embedded as the underlying infrastructure of CA's flagship network management framework product Unicenter TNG (The Next Generation). But Neugentsii software can operate on other other software vendors' databases and management platforms.

However, removed from Jasmineii, the technology does not possess the same degree of interconnectivity and integration between systems and data sources, said Carl Hartman, vice-president of eBusiness management at Islandia, New York-based CA.

Neugentsii will help customers build e-business applications in real-time to enable personalization, offering specified business predictions and recommended courses of action, and gauge the effect of change on business via analysis of data and patterns, according to Hartman.

Examples of customers who have deployed Neugentsii in beta version include Denver-based Pegasus Technologies, which is using the technology to help power plants comply with environmental and industry regulations, and CitiStreet, an East Brunswick, N.J. business record-keeping company.

"Beforehand, it was anecdotal information we were getting back from our sales forces," said Ira Schwartz, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the retirement services division of Citistreet. "With Neugents, we saw (geographic and customer database) synergies that we were quite frankly unaware of."

Scotland Yard, in the United Kingdom, plans to use Neugentsii to help pinpoint patterns of less serious crime in its 620-mile coverage area, to assist its 25,000-member police force, said Phil Stoneman, technology business manager for New Scotland Yard.

"Right now the data is not formatted in that way, and it's very difficult for someone to go through that," said Stoneman. "We're very hopeful Neugents can provide that for us."

Neugentsii is available now and pricing begins at $225,000, depending on the application, Hartman said.
