BOSTON (07/24/2000) - Comverse Network Systems, a division of Comverse Technology Inc., will forge an alliance with Sun Microsystems Inc. to bring Internet applications to a range of global communication companies, the companies announced Monday.
Comverse will integrate Sun's Netra 1400 servers and Sun StorEdge disk arrays as part of its unified messaging systems, according to a statement. Sun's hardware will serve as a platform for Comverse's Trilogue INfinity and Access NP systems.
Trilogue INfinity and Access NP are multimedia, multi-application platforms designed for deployment of voice and data messaging services. They can be integrated into both wireless or wireline networks.
The alliance is a multi-year, multi-million dollar arrangement, the statement said. Paul Baker, a Comverse Technology spokesman, would not comment on the exact financial terms of the deal or on how long it took to forge the alliance.
Comverse Network Systems' services include call answering, wireless data and Internet-based information services, prepaid wireless services, mailbox-to-mailbox messaging, Internet-based unified messaging, interactive voice response and virtual phone/fax.
