Microsoft reinvents the mouse wheel

Drag and click has become a thing of the past, with Microsoft modifying its optical technology in its Trackball Mouse.

The Trackball Explorer mouse has been designed with a finger operated trackball which follows movements at a rate of 1500 frames per second. The mouse does not use moving parts and Microsoft claims an improved efficiency of 25 per cent. It incorporates scroll bar and zoom functions on the wheel and is suitable for both left and right handers.

Two of the Explorer's five buttons have been preprogrammed with back and forward functions to aid navigation on the Web and the buttons can be reprogrammed to execute your most common commands.

The mouse will be available from Microsoft stockists from October.www.microsoft.com.auFS-1000 helps SOHO stay greenKyocera Electronics has launched an entry-level, SOHO laser printer titled the FS-1000.
