Hewlett-Packard has launched its e-Utilica initiative, an off-the-shelf application service provider (ASP) solution that enables service providers to deliver on-demand computing.
Available for HP UX version now and for Windows and Linux in 2001, the installation is a scalable hardware and software bundle that has the necessary parts to build an application hosting service from scratch. It offers the "highest level of data security", according to Robert Becker, marketing manager, technical division for HP Australia and New Zealand.
The solution is priced from $650,000. HP has no plans to bring the service in-house as an HP-branded service.
