eBay loses MD to parent company

The constant merry-go-round of dot-com executives is not limited to just poaching from competitors, it seems.

The hot seat at online auction company eBay is up for grabs following the appointment of current managing director Alison Deans as chief operating officer of parent company ecorp.

The internal shuffle by Deans sees her become ecorp's first COO after a successful tenure at eBay.

According to a spokesperson from ecorp, Deans was selected for the role because of her business skills, e-commerce experience and ability to fit in with the organisation.eBay is a fifty-fifty joint venture between ecorp and eBay in the US.

Deans will not assume her role at ecorp for about three months, allowing eBay time to select a replacement and manage the transition process.

Deans joined eBay in July 1999, following seven years at McKinsey & Co.

The appointment of a COO completes ecorp's executive management recruitment drive for the time being, the spokesperson said.
