$499 PC Offers Linux/Windows Dual Boot

Internet retailer Shoppingplanet.com is offering a $US499 computer that allows users to boot up in either the Windows or the Linux operating systems.

Offered through Bay Micro Computers, the retailer's wholly owned subsidiary, the computers are available at http://www.shoppingplanet.com or through the Bay Micro reseller network, the company said in a statement today. Shoppingplanet.com is the Web retail presence of Californian-based iChargeit.

The dual-boot computer comes with Linux and Windows 98 second edition, as well as a range of other office, graphics and consumer software. The computer runs on Advanced Micro Devices' K6-2 450MHz CPU chip and has 32MB of PC-100 SDRAM and a 4.3GB IDE ultra-66 hard drive. Monitors are sold separately.
