Opportunities are continuing to open up for vast regions of Australia as Telco network provider FiberTel continues it's rollout across the nation. Further to Datafast Telecommunaca-tions' efforts in regional Victoria, FiberTel has announced it is building a $167 million data link between Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth to service regional centres including Bendigo and Kalgoorlie.

According to officials from FiberTel, the company has already installed fibre-optic networks in several regional centres and will connect these to the planned Melbourne-Perth network. The company is also planning to establish points presence on the east coast of Australia with every capital city expected to be networked, officials said.

Meanwhile, FiberTel is close to finalising its 100 per cent acqui-sition of Telecommuncations carrier Amcon. The company announced its intention to merge with Amcon last November and is expected to finalise funding arrangements by May.
