NaviSite, a CMGI Web and application hosting service provider, announced last week that it has inked a deal with Level 3 Communications to expand its services in the U.S. and internationally. NaviSite will be using Level 3's collocation facilities and IP network services to support its application management services. NaviSite will become Level 3's preferred provider of managed application services, and Level 3 will become NaviSite's preferred provider of collocation and IP network services.

Excite@Home, a provider of broadband cable modem access to the Internet, is teaming up with a supplier of a competing service, digital subscriber line (DSL). Excite@Home will wholesale DSL services from Rhythms NetConnections so Excite@Home can reach more customers. Cable networks capable of supporting cable modems have spotty coverage, and this alliance is meant to address that problem. Excite@ Home says the deal means it can reach 15 million more customers.
