Lucent developing new chips for wireless devicesLucent Technologies has announced a venture that plans to produce integrated semiconductor modules for use in next-generation wireless devices, such as cellular phones and personal digital assistants. Lucent said it has developed a way to integrate memory, logic and other complex analog and digital circuits onto a single silicon chip. A Lucent spokesman said the technology, called Chip-Scale Modules, will let the makers of those devices reduce the time it takes to develop them by up to 30 per cent compared with using traditional components. www.lucent.comCA integrates with CiscoWorksNetwork management vendor Computer Associates International has announced the integration of its Unicenter TNG enterprise management product with Cisco Systems' CiscoWorks 2000 Service Management Solution. The DES-3624 is the slave unit for the DES-3624I and is sold with an integrated 2.4Gbit/sec interface to link with the DES-3624I. The DES-3624 base unit has 24 10/100BaseTX/FX ports. The DES-3624I unit offers 22 ports of 10/100TX. Both devices also support quality of service (802.1p), which lets the switch prioritise specific traffic flows, and virtual LAN identification (802.1Q).
