DOJ Drops Network Solutions Antitrust Inquiry

BOSTON (02/02/2000) - The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has closed its antitrust inquiry into Network Solutions Inc.'s management of the Internet's primary domain name system, Network Solutions said in a statement yesterday.

No action is being taken by the DOJ regarding Network Solutions, based in Herndon, Virginia. The company was informed of the probe in June 1997, and was asked to supply information about its management of the domain name system to the DOJ.

Network Solutions is a registrar of Internet domain address ending in .com, .net, .org and .edu.
