Caltex Australia outsources to EDS

Caltex Australia has signed two IT outsourcing deals worth a total of $45 million with EDS Australia.

The first three-year contract, valued at $36 million, will see EDS assume control of Caltex's production and development client/server infrastructure, including desktops, networks and servers, and aims to provide the petroleum products manufacturer with a single point of contact service centre. Caltex will however, retain in-house responsibility for SAP applications development.

Under the second of the two deals, a five-year, $9 million contract, EDS will provide operational equipment, including hardware processing capacity and operational support services, for Caltex's integrated fuel card system, Caltex Starcard.
