Telstra chooses Novell Z.E.N.works 1.1

Telstra has selected Novell's Z.E.N.works 1.1 solution to manage its 55,000 desktop and mobile PCs, Novell Australia announced on Friday.

In a deal said to be worth more than $1 million dollars, Telstra approached Novell for a solution to "more easily and efficiently manage its mixed operating system environment", Cliff Smith, managing director, Novell Australasia said. Telstra is upgrading its desktops from Windows 3.1 to Windows NT, officials said.

According to Smith, Z.E.N.works 1.1 will provide Telstra with remote control and application launch capabilities through Novell's directory-based management features to support the upgrade.
