Siemon offers 'world first' Cat 6 cabling

The Siemon Company is offering what it claims is the world's first Category 6 cabling solution ahead of final ratification of industry standards for the category.

The company said the solution is based on the latest Categoory 6 standards currently under consideration by the standards committee.

A company spokesman claims its MAX 6 module, MC6 modular patch cord and S210 block are designed to meet the standards expected at the time of final ratification. The products are expected to cater for higher bandwidth and offer a minimum 10-year life expectancy.

The Siemon products are now available in Australia and attract a 25 per cent price premium above Category 5 cabling.

In addition, the products carry a 20-year Siemon warranty.
