Free security cross grade offered for local businesses

No license limitation for businesses

ESET Australia has announced it is offering Australian owners of antivirus suites a free cross grade to its new Smart Security product.

Businesses and consumers alike that use security products from vendors like Symantec and McAfee can cross grade to ESET's Smart Security suite without any limit on the number of licenses for business users.

ESET CEO Rod Fewster said that the company is also offering a free upgrade to Smart Security for users of its NOD32 antivirus package at no cost.

"We'll also upgrade licensed users of other antivirus suites to ESET Smart Secruity at no cost for the remainder of their license period," he added.

John Hawes, technical consultant with the Virus Bulletin, said that as vendors release their 2008 product ranges, most suites are sprawling with diverse functionality, often at the expense of user-friendliness and occasionally posing dangers of their own.

"ESET has resisted the temptation to sprinkle in too many extras, focusing instead on the core requirements of a security system, covering all the essential bases with a smoothly integrated set of protective barriers," Hawes said.

ESET also offers free technical support to businesses and home users.

The free cross grade license is limited to a maximum period of one year, and ends December 31, 2007.
