Pittwater Council selects Zylotech for surveillance

To provide surveillance technology for the council's SafeCity initiative.

Zylotech Limited (ASX:ZYL) has been selected to provide the technology for stage one of the Pittwater Council's SafeCity initiative.

The company will provide Pittwater Council with wireless or fibreoptic surveillance solutions.

The SafeCity initiative is an attempt to combat anti-social behaviour, particularly graffiti and vandalism in the region's commercial areas, with a high-tech solution utilising surveillance cameras.

The three-stage contract is worth an estimated $180,000 to the company or companies selected to provide the solutions.

On top of live monitored CCTV, the council plans to use more low-tech security measures such as improved street lighting and security patrols.

Graffiti and vandalism cost the council an estimated $100,000 last year.

The Pittwater region includes the northern Sydney suburbs of Mona Vale, Avalon and Newport.
