Hewlett-Packard has confirmed its Australian operations will not be spared from a global decision to slash its workforce.
“Back in September, the company had made known that 24,600 employees globally, or approximately 7.5 percent of the combined workforce [HP and EDS], will be affected over the course of the three-year, phased workforce reduction program. The impact in Australia and New Zealand is expected to be in line with the announcement,” read a company statement.
“The total impact of the three-year phased plan will be determined relative to operational requirements and will be based on a thorough assessment of our service delivery and growth position.”
The restructuring program is expected to save HP about US$1.8 billion each year.
