The National Broadband Network Company (NBNCo) has poured cold water on reports it will contact the employers of prospect executives who attempt to jump ship from other telecommunications providers.
Media reports claimed the NBNCo would inform an applicant's employer prior to hiring the candidate.
NBNCo spokeswoman Rhonda Griffin, however, said the company would never inform an applicant’s employers of their bid to work for the company.
“The policy stops us actively approaching candidates… at no point would we inform an employer that an application has been lodged,” Griffin said.
“If [a candidate] comes to us, their details and applications are treated confidentially and assessed on merits.”
Griffin said the policy, which was drafted in January, prevents the NBNCo from seeking to poach telco staff “because [it] doesn’t want to poach from customers”.
