Australian Research Council seeking IT pros for new application

Team of contractors wanted to help build new application for Excellence in Research for Australia project

The Australian Research Council (ARC) is seeking a team of IT professionals to build an application to help assess research quality in Australia’s higher education institutions.

The seven-month contract positions have become available as part of a project titled Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA).

“The ARC provides competitive research funding to a broad range of external clients and the new application will provide a system to support research assessment, store assessment results and undertake reporting of assessment outcomes,” government documents state.

The ARC is seeking a project manager, senior business analyst, senior Java/JEE developer (potentially developers), a test coordinator and an application architect.

The overall team will consist of 12 people and will model business processes and requirements, “develop technical solutions and overlay quality assurance mechanisms” with a view to rolling out the system in the second half of 2010.

More information on the positions is available on the tenders.gov.au website.
