SA focus creates 100 new ICT jobs

About 100 new ICT jobs in the Adelaide region are set to come up over the next 12 months with the opening of a new office by Australian IT services company, CSG (ASX:CSV).

The office, situated on Pirie Street in the Adelaide CBD, will service customers such as BHP Billiton Olympic Dam and Mitsubishi Motors Australia. CSG also holds managed services contracts with five government agencies in the region.

CSG group general manager of managed services, Brian Lee, said that the office it established in Norwood 18 months ago was “really just a small sales office” of about five staff.

“We’ve now effectively moved to a location that allows us to grow to well over 100 people, [and] most of the people servicing the customers and state government are based in this new office,” Lee said.

To date, the office has created 40 local jobs, with 60 more expected over the next 12 months.

According to Lee, the company has a strong focus on the South Australian Government as a customer as well as its current customers in the region.

“We have a real commitment to customers in that region directly from South Australia, as opposed to management outside of the region,” he said.

“It’s a model where we’re doing both remote monitoring as well as having people on the ground for our customers.”

Lee told said that while there were no new customers in the region currently, the company would concentrate on its government contracts and ensure the company “ramps up” so that they are serviced.

In August, the company posted its annual financial results, posting a profit growth of 35 per cent year on year, and pocketing $31.5 million in the 12 months to 30 June.

In June, the company announced that it had picked up $22 million in new business in the month of May.
