NBN Co's second data centre destined for Polaris

National Broadband Network wholesaler NBN Co has decided to locate its second national data centre at the Polaris building in Springfield, Queensland.
According to a company statement, the new data centre will extend the company’s footprint and presence as it ramps up to deliver a large scale and resilient network. It also hosts mission-critical ICT systems for government departments.
The deal represents another big customer win for the $220 million five-storey, earthquake-proof building which has tenants including NEC, Suncorp, Citec and HP.
The new facility will join NBN Co’s primary data centre in Ultimo, NSW, established after a three-year contract signed with wholesale data centre owner, Global Switch, in November 2010.
The data centre space developments follow news that the company is shifting closer in finalising an $11 billion infrastructure deal with Telstra. The telco’s shareholders will vote on a deal on 1 July, 2011.
