Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 won't launch in Australia until a patent stoush with Apple is resolved. According to a Bloomberg report, a lawyer for Apple yesterday told Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett that Samsung's tablet infringes 10 patents held by Apple.

Samsung agreed to halt Galaxy Tab 10.1 advertising and to not sell the device until the lawsuit is resolved or it wins court approval, the wire service reported.

In April, Apple sued Samsung in a Californian court for alleged patent violations in the Galaxy Tab tablet and a number of smartphones, including the Samsung Epic 4G, Captivate, Indulge, Nexus S and Galaxy S 4G.

"The copying is so pervasive, that the Samsung Galaxy products appear to be actual Apple products -- with the same rectangular shape with rounded corners, silver edging, a flat surface face with substantial top and bottom black borders, gently curving edges on the back, and a display of colorful square icons with rounded corners," the complaint said.

Samsung responded with patent lawsuits in Japan, Germany and South Korea. Samsung alleges that Apple infringed on patents relating to data transmission errors in WCDMA mobile networks, mobile phone tethering, and reducing power consumption when transmitting data over HSPA.

Apple and Samsung will be back in Federal Court on 29 August.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an Android-based tablet with a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen. It runs version 3.0 ('Honeycomb') of Android.
