Verizon boosts Canberra data centre space

Verizon this morning announced that it had doubled the capacity of its Canberra data centre, bringing the total floor space of its Australian data centres to 6900 square feet.

Along with its expanded Fyshwick data centre, which connects to the Intra Government Communications Network, which runs fibre between government agencies in the ACT, Verizon operates data centres in Melbourne and Sydney.

Verizon opened its Canberra data centre in early 2010, with the Melbourne and Sydney facilities launching later.

"We have a distinguished legacy of working with federal government agencies around the world, and this expansion is a further commitment to providing Australian enterprises and government agencies with the most secure hosting environment for their mission-critical applications," John Karabin, area vice-president of Verizon Australia and New Zealand, said in a statement.
